As an Indianapolis photographer, one of my favorite ways to capture the city is by pairing the iconic skyline views at Highland Park with the quiet, historic charm of the Lockerbie Square neighborhood. This combination offers the perfect balance of a scenic “big city” feel and an intimate, timeless aesthetic.
The Skyline at Highland Park We started the session at Highland Park, which arguably has the best scenic overlook of downtown Indianapolis. It’s the perfect spot for those wide, “hero” shots where the skyline is the star. During the fall, the trees framing the city view add a layer of golden texture that makes the entire session feel warm and intentional.

Historic Charm in Lockerbie Square After catching the views, we headed over to Lockerbie Square. If you’re looking for a quiet, charming neighborhood to shoot in, this is it. Between the cobblestone streets, the historic brick homes, and the ivy-covered walls, it feels like you’ve stepped into a different era. It’s the ideal location for those “lifestyle” moments where we can just walk, talk, and capture your connection in a more secluded setting.

Why This Duo Works By choosing these two locations, you get two completely different looks within minutes of each other. You get the energy of the downtown Indy skyline and the cozy, romantic feel of Lockerbie’s historic streets.
